CBYX, NSLI-Y, and YES Abroad NH19 Applications Now Available!

The Outbound Sponsored Programs (OSP) team is happy to announce that the 2019-20 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) and YES Abroad applications are now available online. The NSLI-Y application recently opened, meaning all three OSP programs are now accepting NH19 applications!

Please join us in spreading the news about these U.S. Department of State-sponsored programs that provide merit-based summer and year-long scholarships for eligible high school students and recent high school graduates! Program summaries, application details, and contact information are below:

 

The CBYX program provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent graduates for an academic year home-stay program in Germany. The program immerses participants in the cultural life of Germany, providing formal language training and informal language experience, as well as interactions with U.S. and German government officials, sparking a lifetime interest in languages and cultures. Students learn about German political life and further enhance the transatlantic friendship that exists between the U.S. and Germany. The deadline to apply is December 11, 2018 at 11:59PM PST. The YES Abroad program provides merit-based scholarships for American high school students and recent graduates to study for one academic year developing global competence and an understanding of shared cultural values by living with a host family and attending a local high school in countries with significant Muslim populations. Countries include: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Macedonia, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, Thailand, and Turkey. The NSLI-Y program provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent graduates to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas programs. The program immerses participants in the cultural life of the host country, giving them formal and informal language practice and sparking a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures. Summer and academic year programs are available for Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian, and Turkish.
