Women and girls who desire to learn more about STEM often face a challenging set of circumstances in fields that are traditionally dominated by men. That’s why AFS has created the Global STEM Accelerators: a 12-week, full-scholarship program dedicated to the future of women in STEM fields.
During the 12-week Accelerators program, scholarship winners between the ages of 15 and 17.5 will participate in all-virtual programs (from home), engaging in content on critical global competence skills, social impact, and sustainability-focused workshops, with content co-developed by AFS and the University of Pennsylvania. This program culminates with student-led social impact projects and presentations that offer potential solutions to real-world challenges, with an emphasis on climate change and the energy transition.
By providing an opportunity for girls from around the world to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, we can start to change the trend and open up more possibilities for the perspectives of women in the greater goal of reaching a sustainable future.
Applications for the AFS Global STEM Accelerators program will open on Friday, April 1st, 2022, and have a deadline of Sunday, May 15th, 2022!
