In a video interview with AFS-USA President Tara Hofmann, Zdenek David describes his experience coming from Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) to the U.S. as one of the first AFS exchange students in 1947.
After his time with AFS, Zdenek went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a professor, bibliographer, lecturer, and author, making significant contributions to his field. Zdenek received the František Palacký Honorary Medal for Merit in Historical Sciences from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 2009, and the Prize of the Prague Chapter of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences in 2010.
