AFS-USA Volunteer Margaret Johnson Receives Mayor’s/Sister Cities of Durham Award

Margaret Johnson, former Area Team Chair of the Carolinas East Team for 20 years, recently received the Mayor’s Award for an individual promoting international understanding in Durham, NC.

The Mayor’s/Sister Cities of Durham Awards for Promoting International Understanding is an annual award ceremony that recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to international understanding. The awards are presented by Mayor Williams at a free event that also celebrates Sister Cities of Durham’s history.

Margaret was nominated for the award by Nancy Cox, a Sister Cities Board Member, former AFS volunteer, liaison, host family, and sending parent. Congratulations Margaret and thank you for all you do to promote intercultural understanding!
