You’ll notice that these “Talking Points” change according to the student’s type of program, whether it is a program funded by the Department of State or whether the student is a “core” student. Within the Talking Points, there are also links to the specific Country Pages of the students, where general cultural information about the life of a teenager can be found.
We hope that this new and easily accessible resource will allow volunteers to discover details about the government funded programs and the students’ countries of origin and will facilitate the conversations with potential host families. Other information about Department of State/ECA funded programs can also be found in the NEW Help & Learning for Hosted Participants platform, where there is a tab specifically dedicated to these programs (see “Additional Information for ECA Program Students”)
For any general questions about ECA Programs, you may contact Jacob (jnathanson@afsusa.org) or Natalie (nrehberger@afsusa.org).
