Diversity Initiatives
AFS-USA will offer multiple webinars for applicants who identify as members of the LGBTQ and Students of Color communities. The webinars, titled Navigating your AFS experience…, offer AFS applicants the opportunity to learn about the realities and potential challenges of study abroad as a member of an underrepresented community. The webinars are facilitated by AFS Staff and Volunteers.

Scholarship Updates
Two scholarships remain available for the NH18 cycle:
Global Leaders Financial Aid: funding available on a rolling basis towards a Global Prep, Summer, Semester, or Year Program. AFS applicants must qualify for need-based funding.
LGBTQ Pride Scholarship: merit scholarship to exemplary LGBTQ students towards any AFS program. Application Deadline: Thursday, May 31, 2018

2018 National Scholarship Recipients
We’re thrilled to announce the 2018 recipients for AFS-USA National Scholarships.
Helen “Peggie” Miller Scholarship:
We are happy to announce that the winner of the $5,000 Helen “Peggie” Miller Scholarship is Hunter Cibula from the Greater Los Angeles Area Team. Hunter is preparing to study abroad in Belgium (French) for a year. We received a total of 28 video entries for the inaugural need and merit-based scholarship. Viaggio Italiano Scholarship:
