International Education Week (IEW) is almost here! As you may know, this is an incredibly important time for the AFS community.
IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State that celebrates the benefits of global learning and international exchange. From Nov. 13-17, 2017, schools, universities, businesses, and other intercultural organizations are encouraged to participate.
AFS-USA is using the opportunity of IEW to share our mission with new audiences and drive home the importance of international education. This year, we’re bringing back the popular theme “Pass Peace Forward” because of how much it has resonated with our community.
AFS hosted students and returnees, some of our best ambassadors, have been asked to:
- Give a school presentation (and tell us about it for a chance to win a bag of AFS merchandise!)
- Encourage their teachers and classmates to explore afsusa.org/peace (visitors who enter their email could win an AFS t-shirt! The site will be live prior to IEW.)
To view student resources and presentation templates, visit afsusa.org/student-life.
How you can get involved
This is a great opportunity to connect with schools and other organizations on a shared mission. During IEW, schools around the country are opening their doors to provide intercultural learning opportunities for students. Volunteers are encouraged to request an in-person school visit or give a presentation on AFS-USA’s mission and/or programs.
The Marketing Field Hub offers resources, including school outreach materials, to help you promote AFS during IEW.
Thank you for all that you do to make a global impact in your community. If you have any questions, please contact marketing@afsusa.org.
