It is Now Easier to Complete your AFS Volunteer Re-Registration!

We are excited to announce new updates that will make annual volunteer re-registration a breeze!

As a reminder, AFS-USA volunteers must re-register annually. Volunteer registration ensures you:

  • Are covered by AFS insurance policies when performing your volunteer role
  • Meet state and federal laws regarding work with international youth
  • Will be supported in your volunteer role

We have added your re-registration items right in your MyAFS To Do list! 30 days before your registration expires you will get an email alert and also see the items below at the bottom of your To Do list:

The necessary pieces of your re-registration have not changed- we just made them easier to find.

  • Tell Us About You: Here you will update your contact and volunteer information.
  • Confidential Form: A series of nine ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ questions are asked as a Department of State requirement.
  • Volunteer Agreement: This is an outline of the rules and regulations by which each AFS staff member and volunteer follow. An ‘E-signature’ located at the bottom of the form indicates your agreement.
  • Criminal Background Check: You can start your annual volunteer background check at the click of the button or you will receive an email with a link to the First Advantage website, an FID number, and instructions on how to submit the background check. Please note that the Criminal Background Check will only show as checked off once it has been reviewed by staff.
