We are excited to announce a new feature in the MyAFS Team widget that will allow volunteers to quickly locate host families in their Area Team who are fully screened for the current cycle but not currently hosting a student. We hope that this will assist volunteers in identifying a compliant placement for a student in the event of emergency or other moves. These are families who are eligible to take in a student on that day, provided non-traditional paperwork is not required (i.e. the family taking in two students). This list will also indicate if the family is not currently hosting but is scheduled to take in a student in the future.
You can locate this list in the Team widget in MyAFS, under the new “Screened Families Not Currently Hosting” tab in the ‘Host Families’ section. Only families with a full Online Application (this excludes Event, 18+ and short-term program applications) marked “Yes” or “Yes- Pre-Screen Family Only” for the Ready to Host status will appear on this list. If a family is missing any item, including the Host Family Orientation, they are not considered fully screened and will not appear.
As a reminder – in the event of an emergency move outside of business hours, volunteers must still notify and get approval from the Duty Officer prior to the move, even if the family taking in the student is fully screened!
