Across the U.S., there are a handful of non-Community Placed students appearing as available students for your team’s ZIP codes in Meet the Students and MyAFS. There are several reasons why this is happening.
First, there are still a few students in Regionally Available status, each of whom will show up as being available in Meet the Students/MyAFS for all teams in that student’s assigned gateway, until they are CP’ed.
There are three students who are currently Nationally Viewable, meaning they show up on MyAFS and Meet the Students for every team in the U.S. Those three students are: Erica SWE (Chicago Gateway), Raphael GER (New York Gateway), Sebastian DEN (Los Angeles Gateway).
Given the July 7 first arrivals placement deadline for students from Portugal and the July 17 placement deadline for students from Spain, all unplaced students from these two countries were made Regionally Viewable on June 29, so that volunteers and families in the students’ assigned gateways will see their bios in Meet the Students and MyAFS.
As of July 5, all unplaced Semester students have become Regionally Viewable, so that volunteers and potential host families can see the bios of all unplaced Semester students within their assigned gateways.
There will likely be more “priority students” who will be made Regionally or Nationally Viewable in the coming weeks. We will continue to communicate these students out to all of you as additional decisions are made.
Even though these priority students are visible across teams and gateways, it is still the expectation that the teams where these students are CP’ed will be actively promoting and championing their assigned students. Also, placements of the students who are Nationally Viewable will still require gateway change approval.
