Monday night, Tara Hofmann informed all of you about the decision to shorten the programs of currently hosted students in the US, aside from FLEX and YES Sponsored Programs students. This message is an update on our planned next steps.
AFS-USA and AFS Germany were directed early this morning by the U.S. Department of State and German Bundestag to inform American and German CBYX participants, natural families, and host families of the program sponsor’s decision to curtail the NH19 CBYX program.
Messages have been sent to all current hosted students in relation to the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).
Since I wrote to you last week, the situation at hand with the COVID-19/coronavirus has continuously been changing, oftentimes by the hour. Over the last two weeks, we’ve endeavored to provide relevant information, from an AFS-USA perspective, to host families, sending parents, schools, and volunteers.
Information regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) is constantly in front of us all and is coming from many different perspectives. We are sending this communication to help answer some of the questions you may have surrounding AFS programs and plans, as together we monitor this evolving situation.
