Today, we’re asking for the immediate help of the AFS community to defeat amendments that target funding for the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and, in the case of Amendment 38 (#158), all but eliminate DOS exchange programs.  
 
Last week, Rep. Mast (R-FL, 21) filed an amendment (Amendment 38 (#158)) to the FY2025 State Department funding bill that would eliminate all funding for Educational and Cultural Exchange programs. Amendments 1 (#83) and 13 (#15), introduced by Rep. Brecheen (R-OK, 2) and Rep. Gosar (R-AZ, 9), also seek to cut ECE in various ways. 

Please write your Representative using this letter generator from the Alliance of International Exchange and ask them to oppose Amendments 38 (#158), 1 (#83), and 13 (#15) and to show their support for international exchange programs. The bill will likely be voted on later today, so it is critical that you reach out to your Representative as soon as possible.
