AFS-USA is excited to offer AFS-USA Volunteers a chance to win a trip to meet and interact with AFS Staff and Volunteers from our AFS Partners – in person in Italy, Germany or Thailand! 

Here’s how it works: 

• Each Area Team has a goal for number of placements of students from each of these three countries 
  • If you don’t know your Team’s placement goal for each country, please ask your Regional Field Specialist 
• If your Area Team meets your placement goal for one or all these countries for NH24, your Area Team will automatically be entered into a drawing for that country’s trip opportunity 
  • Your Area Team will receive one drawing ticket for each student placed from the country up to your goal (and beyond if you place more than your goal for that country) 
• There will be two lucky winning Area Teams per country (six total winners) who will select a Volunteer from their Team to travel to meet Volunteers and Partners abroad

• In approximately mid-September, AFS-USA staff will place all tickets for each country in a hopper, draw 2 selections from each country hopper and communicate out to the winning Area Teams 
• Winning Area Teams will decide internally which Volunteer from their Team will take part in the trip 
  • Area Teams can decide to conduct their own internal drawing, reward the Hosting Volunteer who placed the highest number of participants from the country (or overall), or make the determination as a Team however you see as most equitable 

Information About the Trip: 

• AFS-USA will provide round-trip international airfare to the destination along with a stipend for transportation and meals not provided by the AFS Partner  
  • If you wish to tack on other legs to the trip, this will be at your own expense 
• Dates for the trips will be determined by AFS-USA and AFS Partner countries 
  • Currently, these dates are still to be determined and will be set based upon AFS Partner’s schedule for an upcoming volunteer and/or staff event  
    • Projected Winter 2024/Spring 2025 
• AFS-Germany/AFS-Italy (Intercultura)/AFS-Thailand will provide accommodations and activities where you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Volunteers and Staff from the host country
