Each year, in partnership with RMCQA and IT, Hosting Operations – integrating feedback from field staff and volunteers – endeavors to make improvements to the Host Family Online Application. This year, the changes are relatively minor and mostly address the phrasing of questions/instructions.
Importantly, there are two new questions that have been added to the Form D:
Family Assessment
1(b). How much time will the student spend alone during a typical week?
This question was separated from 1(a) in order to highlight the need for it to be asked and answered in the interview.
Home Assessment
j) Will the student have adequate storage for their things in their room?
This question was added to ensure the hosted student has enough storage for their belongings, one factor in placement quality.
All changes are now live in the host family online application as of March 5th. Updated digital versions of the accepted paper forms (Form D, PAF, etc.) are available on MyAFS H&L here and are uploaded in the relevant sections of the online applications as well. Please download the forms that you use and integrate them into your practice as soon as you are able.
To facilitate a smooth transition for placement teams, 2017 versions of the paper forms will continue to be accepted through the end of April.
If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
