Need more details about the Global Prep programs offered over the summer? Global Prep programs are group-oriented experiences that generally range from 1 to 3 weeks and focus on different cultural themes and activities. These are great options for students who have never been abroad before and are looking for their first cultural immersion experience. Check out the highlighted programs below to learn more:
- In New Zealand’s indigenous language of Maori, the word Kaitiaki means environmental guardian, which will be the focus of the New Zealand Global Prep Program. Students will have the unique opportunity of learning about sustainability while experiencing the beautiful ecosystems of New Zealand. This 3 week program will include talks by the Department of Conservation and Indigenous experts, volunteer opportunities, and participation in workshops and seminars run by sustainable tourism organizations passionate about environmental stewardship. The program culminates with the Festival of the Future, New Zealand’s largest youth forum which brings students from around the world to exchange and develop ideas that can positively shape the future.
- Students looking to improve their Spanish language skills while learning about human rights should consider the Argentina Global Prep Program! Participants will get 4 hours of intensive language classes a day, along with fun excursions with their language school like tango lessons, walking tours, and cooking classes. Additionally, the group will visit sights throughout the community to learn about the country’s military dictatorship from 1977-1983 as well as more modern social justice issues. With the added benefit of staying with a host family in Argentina’s capital city Buenos Aires, students will have a rich and unique opportunity to experience Argentina’s varied cultural traditions and deep history.
- Our Poland Global Prep program is truly one to remember! Students are taken on a two week tour of Poland where they explore the cities of Krakow and Warsaw before heading out to the beautiful green countryside. Rich in history, students will learn about Poland’s experiences during WW1, WW2 and life under Nazi German and Russian Communist occupation. Students will also participate in cooking workshops to make traditional Polish foods such as Pierogis, Bigos, and cheese from scratch. Additionally, they will spend a day pottery making, candle making, and baking breads in traditional clay ovens and visiting an eco-farm. Please promote this program to students looking for a fun, dynamic Global Prep experience in Europe!
