The following email was sent to all U.S. hosted students on program as of 4/24/20.
Dear AFSer,
You are cordially invited to attend AFS Prom: Red Carpet Premiere held on Friday the 1st of May, 2020 in Hollywood. Our glamourous evening will begin from our red carpet living rooms at 9 EST where you will have the opportunity showcase your host family and yourself at this once in a lifetime Prom. The evening will include a talent show with a crowned king and queen, live Tik Tok dance-off, and music from Memphis to Mumbai to keep you dancing into the night. Formal attire is encouraged though we ask that you get creative with what you and your host family already have such as costumes, sheets that can be turned into gowns, and any traditional clothes you may have.
You are invited to a Zoom meeting.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
While not required, we invite you to email us a video less than five minutes long that showcases a talent you have which will be entered into the talent show. For example, this could be a video of you singing, playing an instrument, or dancing. You are welcome to include others in your video such as host siblings. The winners will be crowned Prom King and Prom Queen!
If you would like to participate in the Tik Tok dance-off, we suggest you practice a Tik Tok dance and have the song ready on your phone to play. Everyone choosing to do a Tik Tok dance can take turns dancing during this portion of Prom.
If you have any song requests, please email them to us by April 27th.
Before 9 PM EST, we encourage you to take Prom photos with your host family and use the hashtag #AFSeffect along with any relevant YES or FLEX hashtags if applicable to you. Your host family may have other ideas as to how to make this night special as they likely went to Prom when they were in high school too!
