Dear AFS Student,
Ramadan Kareem! Ramadan Mubarak! Happy Ramadan!
Ramadan is a month-long celebration on the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar where observers fast from sunrise to sunset. Every evening Muslims around the world break their fast with an “Iftar” that concludes the day’s fast with friends and family.
AFS-USA would like to invite you to a virtual Iftar for both Muslim and non-Muslim AFSers. Whether or not you are Muslim or are fasting, this will be an opportunity to connect with other AFSers who are currently in the U.S. If your host family would like to join us in these celebrations, we welcome you to share your screen with them. There will be more opportunities for host families and volunteers to be involved in future Iftars.
We ask that all students wear traditional clothes from your home country, if you have any. Please bring something to drink and a small food item to symbolize the breaking of the fast together; we know not everyone who is fasting will be able to break their fast at that time.
When: Apr 27, 2020 08:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
