AFS-USA Staff pay tribute to lives taken in the Santa Fe, TX tragedy

June 1, 2018 – Our AFS-USA staff in New York recently gathered for a moment of silence to honor the ten people who tragically lost their lives in a shooting in Santa Fe, Texas. Among those killed was Sabika Sheikh, a Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad (YES) student from Pakistan.

Although Sabika was not an AFS student, she was a deeply valued member of our community who personified the hopes and dreams of all global citizens, especially high school exchange students who build bridges of understanding between people from different cultures.

During this sad time, we honor all of the lives lost and pay tribute to Sabika Sheikh for her work in creating a more just and peaceful world with this short video.
