Global Learning Week (GLW) is coming up in November, and we invite the AFS community to join us in celebrating international education and the power of cross-cultural learning!
GLW is an AFS-USA initiative that celebrates international exchange and year-round cross-cultural connections by encouraging communities to explore different cultures, perspectives, and global opportunities.
November 16–20, we’re calling on AFSers to help bring global learning to their communities. Hosted students, volunteers, study abroad alumni, host families, educators, staff, and others can participate by sharing their experiences and encouraging others to learn about cultures and perspectives from around the world.
Get Involved
This year, we’re sharing a Global Learning Week promotional flyer (image file) that you can use to help spread the word and encourage schools and educators in your community to participate. The flyer highlights several ways schools can get involved, including inviting an exchange student to speak, facilitating an intercultural learning activity, hosting an International Night, promoting study abroad opportunities, and highlighting global leaders.
More GLW resources and materials for students, volunteers, and others in the AFS community will be available in this article on Help and Learning in October to help you plan and participate throughout the week.
GLW materials will be mailed directly to students, so there’s no need to order or request these materials separately. Students will also receive a separate mailing with an AFS t-shirt. If students have not already submitted their t-shirt size and mailing address, please encourage them to complete this form by October 1.
