Earlier this month, AFS-USA President and CEO Tara Hofmann attended the 2025 Spring Festival Gala for Chinese and American Youths at the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C. Joined by AFS-USA volunteers Patti Rounsevell, Joan Siegel, and Sonja Walti McFarlane, Tara spoke to gala attendees, who had the opportunity to connect with one another through this special celebration leading up to the Chinese New Year.
“As students and educators, we stand on the threshold of rich opportunities that lie in the cultural exchanges between American and Chinese communities… During these exchanges, every smile, every shared meal, and every heartfelt conversation creates lasting connections.”
Tara also highlighted the significance of the Year of the Snake, as it symbolizes wisdom and adaptability, “traits that are vital as we navigate from our increasingly interconnected world.”
