Introducing a New Tool: My Emotional Passport

Introducing a New Tool: My Emotional Passport

AFS-USA Participant Support, Intercultural Learning, and AFS support volunteers are excited to announce a new tool available to support AFS students on program.

The Emotional Passport is a tool to help all hosted participants prepare for the expected emotional ups and downs of an intercultural exchange. AFS strongly believes that these challenges are a key component to personal growth and fundamental to the intercultural learning process.

The Emotional Passport will guide hosted participants in identifying and practicing positive self-care strategies, which will then prepare the participants to be a more effective learner and more capable of achieving their goals throughout the year.

It is recommended for use during the Post-Arrival Orientation but could also be reused on a case-by-case basis at any time in the program. The Emotional Passport can be found here in Help & Learning.

The Emotional Passport was a collaborative effort between:

Kendra McKechnie- AFS Sr. Participant Support Specialist

Rebecca Oswalt- AFS Manager of Participant Learning

Emily Kawasaki- AFS Intercultural Learning Content Specialist

Janice E. Abarbanel PhD Study Abroad and Emerging Adulthood- Psychologist, Health Educator and AFS Liaison

Leigh Roberson- AFS Volunteer Support Coordinator and Support Advisory Committee Member
