This week, we launched the Placements widget on MyAFS, and it has never been easier for every AFS Volunteer to see the host students that are community placed in their team and regionally available.
The Placements widget is launching as we get ready for the upcoming End of Stay orientations and D-Days, which are happening this weekend and early next week across the country. These events bring together many of our volunteers as well as current host families, and they are a great opportunity to discuss the upcoming hosting season and seek out potential host families and liaisons.
The Placements widget can help you make the most of these opportunities. It’s mobile-ready, which means you can easily view unplaced students on your device. Simply scroll through the widget to view students still in need of host families and, with one click, view or download:
- The student’s short bio
- The “Get to Know” PDF with the student’s letter to their host family
- Help & Learning resources on Placing Hosted Students and Promoting AFS to Find Host Families
You can also quickly email the “Get to Know” PDF to friends or family members who might be interested in hosting a friendly student from Hong Kong who likes to paint, for example.
The Placements widget provides a great way to fill time as we wait for the buses to arrive at End of Stay. But more importantly, it is an easy-to-use tool that enables all of our volunteers to see students and learn how easy it can be to do one thing to help find host families. We encourage you to take a moment to view the students today!
