During the month of October, the Scholarship Team requested updates for 2018 from all Field Staff and Volunteers who currently feature local area team scholarships on the Scholarships website. Thank you to the teams who have already provided us with new scholarship details.
We hope to hear from all area teams planning to continue their offer of local scholarship(s) or who have plans to launch new scholarships for the SH18 and NH18 program year. We would like to post information about these scholarships on the website as soon as possible. If you have a scholarship that you would like to promote, get in touch with the Scholarships Team at your earliest convenience by sending an email to scholarships@afsusa.org or contacting Amy Kiana-Rendon at 646-751-2092.
National Scholarship Updates
CULTURAL EXPLORER: The Cultural Explorer scholarship is now available! Please encourage your year program applicants to apply to unique destinations such as Egypt, India, Poland and China. $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to 8-10 winners! The application deadline is March 2, 2018.
BP GLOBAL CITIZENS OF TOMORROW: The BP Global Citizens of Tomorrow webpage has been removed temporarily from the scholarships page until we receive updates about the scholarship availability and program offerings for the NH18-19 program year.
TOP SCHOOLS: Top Schools Global Prep Scholarships will NOT be available in 2018, therefore the page has been removed from the website.
GLOBAL LEADERS: The Global Leaders need-based scholarships page has been updated to reflect the maximum award based on program length. For example, if a year program applicant meets the need-based qualifications after successfully submitting the FAST application, the student may qualify for up to $2,000 in Global Leaders need-based funding. Check out the Global Leaders scholarships page for more information for your state.

Call for Scholarship Judges
Thank you to the Volunteers, Returnees and Staff who served as Scholarship Judges for the SH18 cycle! We appreciate your help in reviewing applicant scholarship essays, recommendation letters, and letters to host families. If you’re interested in serving as a future Scholarship Judge, please complete the interest form.
What’s involved?
Judges will be asked to review application materials for 3-6 candidates per scholarship (based on the number of scholarships you agree to judge). All you have to do is review the scholarship application materials and then submit your scores online. All judging is conducted online and typically requires only one to two hours per applicant essays.
