Hi everyone,
July is the perfect time to look back and celebrate all the incredible things you and your local team accomplished as AFS-USA volunteers this past year.
It’s also an ideal time to look ahead and plan for the upcoming year, including planning how to recognize and appreciate volunteers locally.
To make things easier (and a lot more fun), volunteers and staff on the Volunteer Engagement Advisory Group (VEAG) teamed up to create two brand-new, easy-to-use resources to help you celebrate the amazing work happening across the AFS-USA community.
- The Customizable Appreciation Certificate
Whether a volunteer went above and beyond on a project, reached a milestone, or brought a positive attitude to a tough day, this fully editable certificate is ready to highlight those unique moments at any time.
- Editable Canva template: click “Use template for new design” to customize
- Ready to print PDF template: print and dust off your calligraphy pen
- (Pro Tip: print in landscape mode)

- The Year-Round Volunteer Bingo Card
Who says recognition can’t be a little playful? We’ve designed a special Volunteer Bingo Card filled with different milestones, activities, and everyday achievements.

How it works:
- Step 1: Volunteer leaders announce Volunteer Bingo to the team and share the printable bingo card. (Color Version/Black & White Version)
- Step 2: Keep it somewhere visible, and cross off the squares throughout the year as you complete them.
- Step 3: (The Reward!!) Once you get a “Bingo” (five in a row, a column, or a diagonal), let the volunteer leaders know so the whole team can celebrate the win!
Reward Ideas: Every complete Bingo could earn a special shout-out on the team’s social media, a featured spotlight in a monthly newsletter, or a fun little prize as a token of appreciation.
We hope these new tools bring a smile to your face and make it even easier to celebrate the AFS-USA volunteers who are making a difference in the world each day.
With gratitude,
The Volunteer Engagement Advisory Group
