Today is Founders’ Day! Many qualities make AFS unique among exchange organizations, and our remarkable legacy is perhaps the most distinctive. Today, we honor our AFS Founders and the vision that brought this community to life.
What began with volunteer ambulance drivers supporting one another during wartime has grown into a global movement dedicated to developing active global citizens through intercultural exchange. Reflecting on the story of our founders reminds us of the values that continue to guide our work today and the mission that connects AFSers around the world.
If you haven’t yet, we invite you to take a few moments today to explore AFS history on our Founders’ Day webpage and celebrate the legacy that continues to inspire our community.
Here are some other ways to celebrate today:
- Share your AFS origin story with us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn or spread the word about Founders’ Day using this social media graphic and Facebook cover photo.
- Explore and share our new Impact Page, featuring stories from across the spectrum of the AFS experience.
- Order these postcards to send to your network to raise awareness of AFS-USA opportunities.
- Get involved by becoming a volunteer, opening your home as a host family, or making a donation to help advance our mission.
