We are excited to offer support and orientation volunteers the opportunity to apply for the 2018 Liaison and Orientation Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop in Baltimore, Maryland on October 24-28, 2018. The application deadline is Friday, September 28, 2018.
Overview:
The Training of Trainers Workshop is an intensive, five-day training workshop taking place October 24-28, 2018 close to downtown Baltimore, MD. 20 participants will take part in interactive activities throughout the week with the goal of increasing their ability to be effective communicators, presenters, recruiters, and trainers. The workshop will require active participation while on-site, as well as a commitment to the application of skills learned in the future. If you are applying, please be prepared to commit fully. Participants who successfully complete the workshop will be awarded the title of an AFS Volunteer Trainer.
All expenses will be covered for participants, including roundtrip airfare, accommodations, and meals. To be eligible to participate, you must be an active support or orientation volunteer who is available to participate for the full 5 days and display a strong commitment to training.
Participant Workshop Objectives:
- Identify and describe twelve essential components of effective training design, which will be taught throughout the course of the week through interactive and experiential learning techniques.
- Apply those twelve components to the development of their own training, to be delivered in the culminating final “train back” day.
- Identify the steps needed for planning, delivering and evaluating a training effectively.
- Learn how to provide experiential training to both internal and external audiences such as educators, community groups and AFS stakeholders with an intercultural learning component.
- Develop a plan for integration of what was learned during the ToT into their on-going volunteer work either locally or by providing training in other AFS locations.

- Demonstrated commitment to AFS program growth and quality, leadership development, and continued outreach regarding intercultural education

- Ability to relate to all ages- teens, young adults, and older adults
- Ability to handle stress/difficult situations
