Why You Should Host a Student From Thailand

Why You Should Host a Student From Thailand

Thai students are extremely friendly, open-minded, and beloved among our host families! Thais try to live with a “jai yen” (a cool heart), so you won’t usually see them expressing extreme emotions. They also value the Buddhist principles of acceptance and detachment, which means they tend to be non-confrontational and easy-going.

Students like Yamolporn need host families like you! Hear about Yamolporn in her own words, or read her bio below:

Yamolporn, who goes by Mint, is a young woman from Thailand who loves being around people – and is easy-going and very talkative! She looks forward to her exchange – to gain confidence, partake in new experiences and mutually exchange cultures. In her free time she enjoys volunteering in her community, playing the violin, and reading. One of her favorite places to visit is in the library where she can find new books to explore. Her favorite subject in school is biology and she hopes to go on to university to become a pharmacist so she can help other people. She can’t wait to meet you!

Can’t host this year? Check out how you can promote students from Thailand to other families in your area by visiting the Promote AFS section of MyAFS Help & Learning.
