A coast to coast bike ride that supports intercultural exchange

A coast to coast bike ride that supports intercultural exchange

This is the story of six Italian friends – four who are celebrating their 70th birthday and four who studied abroad as teenagers with AFS-USA 50 years ago! Together, they will bicycle and drive across the United States in September and October. They include Former President of AFS International, Vincenzo Morlini.

We cannot wait to travel from coast-to-coast, have conversations with people along our route, and have new experiences and adventures! The AFS Mission is to create a more just and peaceful world and this too will be our mission. We will share our Italian culture along the way as we learn more about the people who live across America.

Now is our time to give back to the organization that changed our lives in the 1960s. We are cycling to raise funds for scholarships so that American teenagers will have an opportunity to study abroad in high school in Italy and live as a member of an Italian family.

Please contribute to our scholarship fund and share this page with your friends and anyone else who might be interested in our story, our mission, and AFS!

Thank you for being a part of our dream!

Thank you,

Vincenzo, Fabrizio, Valerio, Marco, Adriano, and Giovanni

Five out of the six Coast2Coast cycling team visited the AFS-USA office last week. Jorge Castro, president of AFS-USA (second from the right), gave a toast to the cyclists who visited the office and spoke with them about their personal AFS stories. Watch the Facebook Live video here.

You will also have the opportunity to meet them in person in San Francisco, California on Oct. 5 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Sense Restaurant. Click here to learn more about the San Francisco event in October.
