Congratulations to Oconomowoc High School in Wisconsin and for being named the 2022 AFS-USA Global School of the year.
Staff from Oconomowoc High School, together with AFS-USA volunteers in the Waukesha and West Area Team, submitted a stellar portfolio that demonstrated a true commitment to global education for their students and community. From globally-themed class and club offerings to the infusion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in coursework to a variety of international engagement opportunities, Oconomowoc High School is a great model for any school looking to fulfill a mission of preparing students to be global citizens.
Representatives from Oconomowoc High School will be joining AFS-USA volunteers and staff at the annual ECA Program Workshop in Alexandria, Virginia in March 2022 to participate and receive the award in person.
Additionally, the School Outreach Advisory Group (SCOUT) would also like to congratulate Phoenix Country Day School (Arizona Area Team), Francis W. Parker School (Greater Chicago Area Team) and New Trier High School (Greater Chicago Area Team). Each of these schools were named Finalists for the 2022 AFS-USA Global School Award and will receive both a plaque acknowledging their status as finalists and a complimentary enrollment of a staff member in the AFS Global Competence Certificate this summer.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped schools pull together the materials for these nominations. The quality of submissions this year was quite high and very representative of the AFS School Mission: Any student or educator can become a global citizen when schools partner with AFS-USA.
