As noted in the COVID FAQs, as of the spring of 2021, Teams have the option to hold in-person or virtual orientations, however, any in-person orientation must include a virtual option given that some volunteers, participants and host families may be unable to attend in-person or would be more comfortable attending a virtual orientation. AFS has compiled Best Practices for In-person Events and Orientations to aid Teams in their decision making and planning processes around in-person events.
In addition, while all Orientation materials currently include PowerPoint Presentations that can be used in a virtual environment, all orientation materials are being updated for 21-22 to better suite a virtual environment and to provide volunteers with more context around each orientation phase relative to the Student and Host Family Learning Journeys. Stay tuned to MyAFS News for announcements as the revised materials are published.
