Help Educators Global Up. Become a Qualified Facilitator!

AFS-USA has a professional development opportunity for educators called the Global Competence Certificate. Teachers, counselors, and school leaders can earn their certificate with 20 hours of professional growth time listed after successfully completing a series of 20 self-paced online modules and 5 live dialogue sessions. To continue offering this type of professional development to educators throughout the year, AFS-USA needs more facilitators.

Qualified Facilitators (QFs) go through the online modules just like the teachers and they must attend one two-hour training webinar. Once fully trained, each QF is paired with another to run a cohort of 25-30 educators in a series of 5 live dialogue sessions. All PowerPoints are provided and logistics are done for you. Your time is spent engaging with the educators and helping them grow while learning about AFS in the process. Prior experience facilitating discussions, professional development, or other activities is preferred, but not required. Completion of the Foundations training for volunteers is highly desirable as the format and content are similar.

QF training dates are any one of the following: May 16, May 18, June 20, June 22, August 1, or August 3. If you are interested, please reach out to Jill Woerner at jwoerner@afsusa.org.
