Volunteer Opportunity: AFS Conversations

Volunteer Opportunity: AFS Conversations

Are you interested in volunteering more with AFS?  Do you want to meet other volunteers across the country? Are there AFS topics you want to discuss with other volunteers? Do you like coordinating and bringing people together? Then join the AFS Conversations Committee!

What are AFS Conversations?

AFS believes that we have the ability to make a difference locally, nationally, and internationally through the work of AFS volunteers. Volunteers have expressed interest in seeking more ways to connect with one another across teams, share strategies, successes, tips, and/or resources.  With this in mind, we want to create AFS Conversations.  AFS Conversations will build connections on a national level by bringing volunteers together once a month to discuss and share about a specific topic, and learn what other teams are doing across the country. Topic examples may include Returnee engagement, bio-writing, Study Abroad, and/or how to best utilize Sponsored Programs marketing funds for hosting outreach locally.  We need your help in developing what topics volunteers are most interested in!

What will the AFS Conversations Committee do?

The Committee will work to establish monthly, virtual discussions for volunteers on various topics.  Tasks may include brainstorming topic ideas, working with staff to identify and recruit different volunteer panelists each month, sending out invitations, and assisting the facilitation of each month’s AFS Conversation.
