On Saturday, September 29, Eric Lomeli was elected to the AFS Network Board of Trustees during the AFS Global Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
Eric has been involved with AFS for almost 30 years — he has been a volunteer since 1990, he is an AFS Returnee who studied abroad in Italy in 1992, he has held various leadership capacities in the National Volunteer Assembly, and he has been part of the Board of Directors for the past three years, just to name the all-encompassing ways he has contributed to AFS-USA.
In his new role as a member of the AFS Network Board of Trustees, Eric will bring the experience and expertise he has gained through his involvement with AFS-USA to contribute to the overarching objectives of the AFS International Network, which will include continuing to uphold the AFS Mission in each AFS Partner organization and advancing the Network’s Articles of Partnership and other organizational policies. Members of the Board of Trustees, along with the Partner Director Representatives, are the key players in steering the Network’s strategic plan to success. Although Eric will no longer represent AFS-USA, he is looking forward to continuing to collaborate with AFS-USA and other Partners to work toward the shared goals of the AFS International Network as a whole.
“I would like to thank Jorge, Joan, Jed, and the rest of the Executive Committee, for honoring me with the AFS-USA nomination and the trust invested in me in continuing our collective efforts to make our mission a reality. I would also like to thank the Board of Directors members and rest of the Executive Team for your commitment, dedication, and invaluable input and contributions. I have always found it very inspiring and re-energizing to see others invested in our common goals.” —Eric Lomeli
