Get Ready for International Education Week 2021!

International Education Week (IEW) is just around the corner! As you may know, this is an incredibly important time for the AFS community. AFS-USA uses IEW to share our mission with new audiences and drive home the importance of international education.

IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State that celebrates the benefits of global learning and international exchange. From Nov. 15 – 19, schools, universities, businesses, and other intercultural organizations are encouraged to participate.

AFS hosted students, volunteers, returnees, and host families, our best ambassadors, will be asked to give school and community presentations throughout the week (either in-person or virtually).

How you can get involved:

This is a great opportunity to connect with schools and other organizations on a shared mission. IEW outreach and presentation resources are now available on MyAFS Help & Learning.

We encourage you to order giveaways and materials for hosted students and volunteers in your teams to hand out during IEW presentations and events (there will not be a mailing this year to hosted students). You can place orders online on our marketing materials site (password: afsvolunteer). Additional materials (masks and pens) will become available by November 2 and shipping takes about 3-5 business days.

Submit a press release to your local newspaper, reach out to educators in your community, and encourage returnees and students to present in their classrooms either in-person or virtually!

Thank you for all that you do to make a global impact in your community. If you have any questions, please contact marketing@afsusa.org.
