The AFS Global STEM Changemaker Academy in Houston is recruiting for Program Counselors to support in delivery of the program in Houston this July. Interested applicants can apply here.
The AFS Global STEM Changemaker Academy in Houston will host approximately 28 participants aged 15 to 17.5 from 14 countries around the world. The program will provide immersive intercultural learning experiences centered on sustainability and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Young scholars participating in the program will develop the critical technical competencies needed to work in and advance a low-carbon energy system, including digital skills, design thinking, data science, and wider STEM awareness, while also increasing their global awareness and understanding of the need for a sustainable and equitable energy future. Program Coordinators/Counselors will:
- Live together with the participants in dormitories on the University of Houston Campus from July 4 – Aug 1 (~4 weeks)
- Support and interact with participants to ensure a quality and enriching experience
- Work from a fixed schedule, but be available and willing to be called into service at any time to meet participants’ needs
- Serve as a role model to participants
- Abide by all University of Houston and AFS program policies, including COVID-19 protocols
- Adopt the goals of maintaining a safe, secure, and comfortable living/learning environment for all participants and staff
