AFS-USA has updated the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sections on Help & Learning with the latest available information regarding the 2021-22 program year.
Volunteers may conduct a host family interview virtually if needed. A follow-up visit in the home must be conducted prior to the student’s departure.
The Liaison Assignment Widget in MyAFS will now allow for a Support Coordinator to be linked to a Student and Host Family.
Given the realities of the 20-21 cycle, we recommend that volunteers use the 20-21 Virtual Mid-Stay Orientation presentation this cycle.
We are changing the minimum age for host family background checks from 18 years old to 17 years old in all states except California.
