After a holistic design and development process, AFS-USA is launching a new Host Family Application on May 12.
Each year, the RMCQA and Hosting Operations departments – integrating feedback from Field Staff and volunteers – endeavor to make improvements to the Host Family Online Application. This year’s changes have been rolled into the new Host Family Online Application, to be launched May 12.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jennie Miller from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Jennie was an active and dedicated AFS-USA Co-Chair of the Lake Oswego Chapter, Returnee, Liaison, and four-time Host Parent.
This week, we are asking hosted students, returnees, and other AFSers to send a thank you note to educators who have made a difference in their lives!
This message was sent to all current NH19, SH20 host families whose host students have not yet departed the U.S. These updates will be sent weekly until all students have returned to their home countries.

Meet Cristina, a very articulate and kind young lady from Romania! Cristina was born without her lower right leg, so she uses a prosthetic leg and a crutch to get around. She hasn’t let that slow her down, though!
